Hurricane season is nearing its end, but there is a risk and threat of emergencies all year round in Harris County.

In an interview with Houston Matters host Craig Cohen, Harris County's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Coordinator, Mark Sloan , says flooding is one of the biggest threats to our community. He says other than hurricanes and tropical storms, ice storms can also post a threat.

In the interview (audio and video above) Sloan outlines how you can be prepared in the event of disaster and emergency. He recommends putting together an emergency plan, in addition to having a stock of supplies, food, and water that can last for at least 3-5 days.
