US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth sharply condemned what he called "fat generals" and diversity initiatives, attributing them to decades of military decline, and told a rare gathering of commanders on Tuesday that those who do not support his agenda should resign.
"I know the overwhelming majority of you feel the opposite. These words make your hearts full," Hegseth told the assembled commanders and went on to criticise the look of overweight troops and said, "It's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon."
At the event in Quantico, Virginia, Hegseth criticised previous political leaders for setting the military on a misguided path, declaring, "We became the 'Woke Department,' but not anymore."
