A 12‑year‑old boy was found dead in a senior living complex in Tacoma, Washington, and authorities are investigating the case as a suspicious death, per PEOPLE.

On Friday (September 26), Tacoma police officers responded to reports of an “unresponsive 12-year-old male” at a senior living complex on South Lawrence Street at around 3 p.m. The boy, identified as Preston Hemingway‑Lux, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officer Shelbie Boyd confirmed the boy wasn’t found outdoors but did not disclose exactly where inside the building he was located. Police said detectives and crime scene technicians are actively investigating the case and will release more information as it becomes available. The boy’s cause of death is still pending findings from the medical examiner’s office.
