SHEPHERDSTOWN — Robin McCauley believes that joining the U.S. Army was one of the best things that happened in his life. McCauley grew up in Clarksburg and attended Fairmont State College. However, it wasn’t a great environment for him, and he realized he needed a change. That was when one of McCauley’s childhood friends told him he was joining the Army. McCauley went to see a recruiter on a Tuesday and left that Friday.
“I wasn’t getting any satisfaction,” McCauley said. “I had no discipline. My mother and father divorced, and I was raised by a single mother. And so, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. People to this day say it's the best thing that ever happened to me. Otherwise, who knows where I’d end up.”
