New Delhi: Top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz beat world number five Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 in the Japan Open final clash on Tuesday to earn his eighth title in the year. The Spanish great continued his remarkable run with another dominating performance over the American, who was unable to give any fight and succumbed 4-6, 4-6.

Alcaraz’s 24th career singles title reversed a loss in two sets last week to Fritz at the Laver Cup team event. Meanwhile, the Spaniard by virtue of the victory also improved his season record to a tour-best 67-7 as he stayed on course for the season-ending number one ranking.
