Many St. Louis kids will turn 18 in late October. And for their entire lives, one man ran the St. Louis Cardinals.

John Mozeliak’s tenure with the Cardinals was almost old enough to vote.

And so, Tuesday was a historic day.

Chaim Bloom officially replaced Mozeliak as the Cardinals’ president of baseball operations. "Mo" started around Halloween of 2007.

Same as the old boss?

The hope is that the best of Mozeliak can be brought out in Bloom — there were good years, after all, weren’t there? — and that the ambitiousness that led to the 2011-2015 Cards' success with be mirrored with Bloom’s own touch.

The fear is that Mozeliak got the Cardinals in such a hole, the rebuild will be long and frustrating.
