LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington Fire Department made a call on Monday about a “suspicious substance” at the Federal Medical Center on Leestown Road.

Firefighters were first called to FMC for what was described as “unknown trouble.” When crews arrived, the call was upgraded to a hazmat situation as two workers said they both felt sick after contact with the substance.

“There’s nothing found yesterday on any of our devices,” Hazardous Materials Lt. Ashley Womack said.

Womack said they used specialized devices to test the air and materials.

The two devices that were used are new additions to their unit. The department put the systems into service after receiving a grant in July.
