Hyderabad: It was a forgetful outing for the GMs Surya Sekhar Ganguly, Abhijeet Gupta and SP Sethuraman, all from Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), in the ninth round as the lesser-known opponents got the better of them in the 62nd Senior National chess championship, organised by Andhra Chess Association, at Vignan University in Guntur.

However, GM Sasikiran Krishnan of PSPB is still at the top with 7.5 points, and new faces GM Iniyan P of Tamil Nadu and IM Goutham Krishna H of Kerala have joined him in the lead. As two more rounds are left, the race has become wide open, interesting and thrilling.
