PORT ANGELES — Clallam Public Utility District (PUD) is warning customers about a phone scam in which callers pose as PUD representatives and attempt to collect personal financial information.

According to the utility, scammers are offering supposed discounts for good payment history before requesting credit card or bank routing numbers. Clallam PUD emphasized that it does not accept payments over the phone.

All legitimate payments are routed through the utility’s secure, automated system, which customers must initiate themselves. This system is designed to protect customer information and prevent fraud.
