LENOIR, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Caldwell County man pled guilty this week in a 2022 shooting where a man was killed following a fight at a birthday party.
According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, 52-year-old Fredrick Alvin Patterson, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the death of Douglas Burgess, 46. He was arrested after reportedly turning himself into authorities two days after the shooting.
On the night of Aug. 23, 2022, the sheriff’s office says Patterson and Burgess were attending a relative's birthday party in the 2100 block of Hapertown Drive when an argument broke out between the two men, ending with Burgess being fatally shot. Patterson left the scene, and and Burgess was reporetedly found dead by authorities inside a Range Rover.
