Officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department identified the victim in a Sept. 29 homicide at a police briefing held for media Sept. 30.
Sgt. Cole German said that police were called to a weapons violation near the area of 800 North Dakota Avenue at 1:07 p.m. on Sept. 29, where they found 70-year-old James Lipscomb with serious injuries from being stabbed.
Lipscomb was taken to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Timothy Bellonger, 54, was arrested about two hours following the assault, and eventually charged with second-degree murder, German said. Bellonger is currently being held in the Minnehaha County Jail on a $1,000,525 bond.
