The Minnesota DFL has opted against reinstating the local party's endorsement of state Sen. Omar Fateh for Minneapolis mayor.
Members of a Minnesota DFL committee voted 40-7 on Monday to uphold a repeal of Fateh's endorsement due to issues with the voting process at the Minneapolis DFL convention in July.
Fateh initially was endorsed by the Minneapolis DFL after he secured more than 60% of the delegate vote during its convention on July 19 at Target Center.
But two-term incumbent Mayor Jacob Frey and others immediately filed challenges to the endorsement, prompting a review by a Minnesota DFL committee, which "found substantial failures" in the convention's voting process.
