The owner of Hiawatha Horse Park in Sarnia says he’ll have to figure out a way to operate again without slots on site.

“We didn’t have it for eight years before,” said Jim Henderson.

“We’ll just have to work (out) something else.”

Henderson was among those who learned late Monday the casino with about 150 slot machines, operated by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited at Henderon’s Sarnia facility, will close by March 31.

“I am writing to formally notify you that the lease agreement for Gateway Casino Sarnia will terminate on March 31, 2026, and will not be extended,” Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG) senior vice-president Michelle Eaton said in a letter to Sarnia chief administrator Chris Carter.
