A Toronto man with an interest in the Grand Erie District School Board says he received a bizarre legal directive from the board’s lawyers, insisting he provide them private information and get himself a lawyer.

“They just unilaterally sent me a letter claiming confidentiality,” said lawyer and activist Michael Teper, “telling me I can’t disclose what they sent me.”

His response?

“Nuts to you.”

The letter, labelled in large, bold letters “Strictly private & confidential” and “Not for Public Distribution”, was shared with The Expositor by Teper last week.

Teper began looking into the Toronto District School Board some years ago and that led him to follow controversies in other Ontario boards.
