Avion Azul Mexican restaurant fans can rejoice as the popular eatery has reopened at its new location in Willowbrook Mall in Mason City.

Catarino Martinez opened Avion Azul at the Mason City Municipal Airport in September 2021, however the building was later demolished to make way for a new terminal, leaving the restaurant without a home.

Nearly a year later, on Sept. 20, the restaurant had a soft opening at the former Victorino’s Italian Café location at Willowbrook. The first official day of operations for Avion Azul at its new home was Sept. 22.

“We’re excited to be back full throttle,” Martinez said. “This is what we live for. This is what we enjoy doing every day.”

He invited North Iowans to “come enjoy our fresh food and our fresh margaritas that we hand craft.” Avion Azul makes
