The Supreme Court quashed an FIR and chargesheet against a man who was accused of rape on the pretext of marriage. The court held that the FIR was an "afterthought and was a vehicle for vengeance for the impending consequences."

According to news agency ANI, a bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and N Kotiswar Singh set aside a Madhya Pradesh High Court order that had refused to quash the proceedings.
