A number of trials have been underway at the courts last month which resulted in convictions, but there have also been cases which have gone straight to sentence after guilty pleas were offered.

The cases include a teenage boy who was jailed for four counts of rape upon a teenage girl following a trial, which heard from a number of young witnesses who gave evidence.

In addition, a court heard shocking descriptions of how a man repeatedly demeaned, threatened and hurt a woman he claimed to love, even threatening to kill her and her new partner.

Three men were also jailed after they had been found guilty at trial of kidnapping a chef in broad daylight from a restaurant in the heart of Plymouth, all over a supposed debt.
