KOCHI: A python that had sparked concern in Kochi was safely captured on Wednesday. Rescuers used a stick to create noise on the tree’s branch, prompting the snake to descend. Initially, the forest department had planned to catch the python immediately while it was perched high up. An earlier attempt to bring the python down by pouring water was abandoned after officials assessed that it could endanger the reptile.
A snake rescuer was later deployed to monitor the situation. Using careful methods, the rescuer successfully guided the snake down from the tree.
The python was first spotted around noon near a tree in a vacant compound close to Gandhi Square, near Ernakulathappan Ground. A crowd had gathered after noticing the snake perched high on the tree.
