The Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray are preparing for simultaneous Dussehra rallies on Thursday evening in a show of strength ahead of the local body elections in the state.

The Shinde-led Sena will hold its rally at Nesco, Goregaon, while Sena UBT will convene at Dadar’s Shivaji Park, despite the looming threat of rain.

Both parties said preparations are in full swing, with all arrangements completed.

Political observers noted that these are the last Dussehra rallies before the elections and that future rallies would be joint affairs with allies — Shinde Sena with the BJP and NCP, and Sena (UBT) with Congress and NCP (SP).

Uddhav is also expected to outline his position on a possible alliance with Raj Thackeray’s MNS,
