One offseason move that went under the radar was the signing of quarterback Cooper Rush , but now with Lamar Jackson's health in question, the move is seen differently.

The backup quarterback has never been a priority for the organization, but this year they signed Rush to a 2-year $6 million deal. It was a considerable deal for a team with limited cap space, but they wanted an upgrade at the backup quarterback position.

The 31-year-old quarterback is an eight-year veteran who has started 14 games while he was with the Dallas Cowboys. He has starting experience as recently as last season when he went 4-4 filling in for the injured Dak Prescott in eight games. He had a career-high 12 touchdowns to only five interceptions in 2024.
