Gen V season 2's new episode further explores Cipher and what might be his end goal with Marie, all while building up to a climactic reveal that shows the true scope of the latter's powers. Season 2 is not flowing as smoothly as the first, with a few episodes having pacing issues.

For the most part, episode 4 moved the plot forward with a clear intent, but episode 5 severely slows things down. Sure, there are a few moments for character development that were very important, but the show's overarching plot does not feel as urgent as the Godolkin conspiracy did in season 1. Still, Cipher is a delight whenever he is onscreen.
