LAUREL, Neb. (KTIV) - A man convicted of committing multiple murders will not be required to appear for his next hearing, but will be required to attend the actual sentencing.
According to court documents, the legal counsel for 45-year-old Jason Jones requested that he not be required to appear at the mitigation and sentencing determination hearing on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The motion also requested that he be absent from the actual sentencing, which would be determined after the mitigation hearing.
The documents state that on Monday, the court granted the request to be absent from the hearing on Nov. 20, but he is required to appear for the actual sentencing before the three-judge panel.
Jones was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder on September 26, 2024. He was convicted
