Brantford city councillors have rejected a proposal that would have limited their ability to directly communicate with city staff during the municipal election period.

“I’d like to suggest to council that there’s a slippery slope here with respect to the way we interact with our staff, the people who deliver the services our residents need and want,” Coun. Dan McCreary. “I suggest we vote this down.”

McCreary said there is probably a need for a full council policy review, which could be done by way of a task force that included city staff and city councillors.

“Let’s give some thought to doing this properly by employing one councillor from each ward as we have done historically and traditionally in this city,” McCreary said. “
