An ex- San Jose State University women’s volleyball assistant coach alleges she was fired for filing a Title IX complaint about a transgender player on the team — who allegedly conspired to hurt a teammate and vocal critic of trans athletes in women’s sports, a new lawsuit claims.

The former staffer, Melissa Batie-Smoose, claims she was initially suspended late last year and then later terminated from her coaching gig as “direct retaliation” for raising her concerns about sex discrimination, the suit filed last week states.
