A highly politicized warning message popped up on U.S. Forest Service websites Wednesday morning as the federal government shutdown began .
The red banner message, which briefly appeared at the top of national forest sites above scenic landscape photos, blamed the “Radical Left” and hailed President Trump.
“The Radical Left Democrats shutdown the government. This government website will be updated periodically during the funding lapse for mission critical functions. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people,” the message read.
By 10 a.m. Pacific Time, the messages had disappeared from individual forest pages, but remained on the U.S. Forest Service’s homepage .
