A high school teacher in Texas has apologized for feeding a sick — but very much alive — kitten to a classroom snake.
The advanced animal science teacher at Alvord High School in Wise County told students she fed the week-old kitten to a snake kept in her classroom, according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
“According to the complaint, the educator brought in four kittens who were born to her own cat,” PETA said in a statement on Sept. 23, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram .
One student was so disturbed on hearing the news that they reportedly asked to take the remaining three kittens home, where they all later died.
The unnamed teacher also informed the student that she was feeding kittens to snakes at her home, allegedly adding, “You can’t save them all.”
