Fabian Lysell did his best to play the good soldier, but there was no masking his disappointment with how this year’s training camp has gone for him.

After getting in the first two preseason games, he has not seen the ice for game competition since then and he was quickly relegated to the second group of players, most of whom will or have already been assigned to Providence.

Lysell’s play did not stick out as egregiously poor in those first two games – a 5-2 loss in the opener and a 5-4 comeback OT win in New York – but he did not get on the scoresheet, either. When you’re labeled as an offensive player, as the 2021 first round pick is, you do have to score.
