MADISON (WKOW) — Roger Mann, a former WKOW-TV news director and anchor in the 1970s, died Monday, Sept. 22, at his Orlando, Florida home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 84.
Mann was born and raised in Milwaukee. He began his career in journalism in radio at WTMJ in Milwaukee, according to his obituary. He also worked at WEMP and WISN radio before moving to television at WKOW in Madison.
He anchored the news alongside Terry Kelly in weather and Marsh Shapiro in sports.
"His great professional joy came from his time in Madison leading WKOW’s efforts with the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Telethons," his obituary stated.
In his 70s, he returned to journalism with AC Business Media, producing and anchoring a regular digital newscast: "The Construction News Tracker."
