MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The campground site at Camp McAllen, an all-new 20-acre park situated in north McAllen, is now open for reservations.

Camp McAllen is the latest addition to the city's outdoor recreation scene featuring family-friendly amenities, which include a walking trail, archery range, fishing, and kayaking docks.

The campground will be open each week from Friday through Sunday.

Reservations can be made by contacting the McAllen Parks and Recreation Department at (956) 681-3333.

Camping tents, pads, and LED lanterns will be available to rent out at the following prices. • Camp pad ($12 per night) • 4-person tent ($15 per night) • 6-person tent ($25 per night) • LED lantern ($5 per night)
