IOWA CITY — With an 8 a.m. Pacific-time announcement from more than 1,900 miles away, McKenna Woliczko delivered a seismic jolt to the Iowa women’s basketball program and second-year head coach Jan Jensen.

Woliczko, a 6-foot-2 senior from San Bruno, California, who is ranked the No. 6 overall recruit in the class of 2026 by the 247 Sports Composite, is going to be a Hawkeye . Her commitment was made known to the world on Oct. 1.

While Jensen has secured some really nice recruiting victories since taking over for all-time Big Ten Conference wins leader Lisa Bluder in May 2024, this is by far the biggest get of her 17-month tenure. And if all goes well, it could be the first domino in an even bigger recruiting haul in the Class of 2026.
