Carla Mead has won the Buellton city council seat vacated by David Silva, beating out incumbent Dave King with 269 votes, or 60.4% of ballots cast, according to unofficial returns.

King garnered 179 votes, or 39.96%.

Of the 879 District 4 registered voters, the Santa Barbara County Elections Office reports 449 turned out to cast their votes, representing 51.08% of those eligible.

As of Friday, 100% of precincts have reported.

Certified election results are expected to be released on Sept. 12, according to City officials.

District 4 residents were called to vote on which candidate would fill the council seat vacated by Silva, who defeated incumbent Dave King to become mayor in November 2024.

Mead will serve the partial four-year term which ends in late 2026.
