A 34-year-old man was taken to the hospital in serious condition after he was stabbed during a fight in Chinatown on Tuesday night, police said.

The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. when the victim got into an argument with a 43-year-old man in the Chinatown area, according to the Honolulu Police Department. The confrontation escalated, and the 43-year-old allegedly stabbed the victim once in the leg.

Emergency Medical Services transported the 34-year-old to a hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the 43-year-old on suspicion of second-degree assault and criminal contempt of court at 175 N. Hotel St.

Court records show a bench warrant was issued for him on May 30 after he failed to appear in a separate second-degree criminal trespassing case.
