Aspen City Council reviewed a slew of potential electric code changes that would update how the city approaches building electrification.
The proposed changes are the result of a 2023 city electrification task force that studied how to move toward cleaner energy. It’s also in response to impending changes to the state’s minimum electric building code requirements that will require at least some changes to the city’s electric code to comply with state regulations.
The proposals include limiting electric capacity for residential buildings and implementing some elec
