The magic has run out on the Cincinnati Reds 2025 season, which came to an end Wednesday night at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Facing the defending World Series champions, the Reds were not able to muster enough scoring chances and fell to the Dodgers, 8-4 , in Game 2 of the Wild Card series, ending their season in a sweep against the heavy preseason World Series favorite. Advertisement
While the Reds' organizational playoff woes continue, having not won a series since 1995 and having not won a game since 2012, the 2025 season was undoubtedly a success.
For the first time since the 2021 season, the Reds finished over .500 (both seasons, turning in an 83-79 overall record) and gave the team's young core their first taste of postseason baseball.
