CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The teenager who was killed in a shooting outside of a busy shopping center near Uptown on Wednesday night was a student with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, according to officials.
Charlotte school officials on Thursday, Oct. 2, said that the 16-year-old, identified as Alexander Martinez, who was killed outside of a shopping center near South Kings Drive and Metropolitan Avenue, was a 10th grader at Rocky River High School.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools sent the following message to families:
“Rocky River High School families, this is Principal Legrand. It is with a heavy heart that I share news of the death of one of our students, 10th grader Alexander Cruz Martinez. We are heartbroken by this loss of life, and we grieve with Alexander’s family and friends.”
