SCIO TWP., MI — A 212-apartment complex developer is pursuing a relatively new tax incentive program in Michigan that could bring 43 below-market units to vacant land in Scio Township, just outside Ann Arbor.
Developers of the Crossroads apartment project at the southwest corner of West Liberty and South Wagner roads already secured township site plan approval for market-rate apartments there. Now they are seeking the township’s blessing to make rental rates for the 43 units attainable for people earning up to 80% of the area’s median income and promising to keep rents lower for at least 25 years.
