ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) -- Military families are bracing for financial uncertainty as the government shutdown drags on.

While much of the focus has been on federal workers, service members and their families also face uncertainty about their pay, benefits, and whether they will be able to make ends meet.

“Most military active duty families don't have three to six months of savings set aside,” said retired Navy Julie Shepard.

From closed base services to household budgets, the government shutdown is hitting military families hard.
