MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Correction confirmed on Thursday that it expected a total of 40 individuals to be detained by ICE at the Miami Correctional Facility.

That facility, which the Trump Administration has referred to as the "Speedway Slammer," is located roughly 70 miles north of Indianapolis. The DOC has previously said it anticipated just short of 100 detainees at the facility by the end of this week.

“We have a great DOC, and all along, I’ve said due process, and this is about making sure we focus on the ‘worst first’, and that’s what they’re doing,” Gov. Mike Braun said.

According to State Rep. Ed DeLaney (D-Indianapolis), the agreement between DOC and ICE stipulates that no individuals with pending criminal charges will be held at Miami.
