Southwest Airlines Co. is launching its first flights to Alaska, becoming one of few domestic carriers to fly into the state.

The Dallas-based airline announced Oct. 2 that it will begin service to Anchorage, Alaska, in the first half of 2026, flying into Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. It marks the 43rd state in Southwest’s domestic network.

Southwest will become one of five domestic airlines that offer service into Alaska, joining Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Fort Worth-based American Airlines. The carrier said that tickets will go on sale later this month.
