STATEWIDE -- Due to provisions in President Trump's budget reconciliation bill, Maine Family Planning says it will be forced to close its primary care practice, effective October 31st.
The organization says the reconciliation bill targets providers who offer abortion care and takes away their medicaid funding, even though none of M-F-P's medicaid funding is actually used for abortion care services.
Maine Family Planning says that because their primary care practice was modeled to serve medicaid patients, without medicaid funds, they can no longer sustain the primary care practice.
For the rest of the month, MFP says they will help their patients find other providers in the area and will provide family planning services for as long as they can.
