PINKERTON ACADEMY in Derry is celebrating a major project that gave the school’s second-oldest building and its tower some much-needed repairs.
The building, known as Pinkerton Hall, was built in 1887. The school itself was founded in 1814.
For several months prior to the start of the current school year, the tower was secured in scaffolding to protect the building while major work was underway to repair facade masonry and the tower’s clock.
Andrew DaPrato, Pinkerton’s director of project planning and the project manager, said this was a way to make sure the building and its tower remained secure.
DaPrato said he appreciated hearing good feedback from people about the project.
“It’s one of my favorite parts, having people saying that about the renovation,” DaPrato said.
