SAHUARITA, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Sahuarita Police Department responded to a report of a fight at Walmart involving a possible attempted kidnapping.

On Oct. 2, SPD said Shane Jamrych, 36, called 911 and claimed he had been in a physical fight with a man attempting to kidnap his child and another child. Officers quickly arrived and alerted other Southern Arizona law enforcement agencies to search for the suspect.

However, after reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews, officers determined that the reported incident did not occur. There was no fight or attempted kidnapping, SPD said.

Jamrych was arrested at 3:15 p.m. for falsely reporting an attempted kidnapping and fight.

He was booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of making a false report to law enforcement.
