This Yankees-Red Sox Game 3 was the battle of two rookie starters.

One of them met the moment.

In the winner-take-all wild-card series game, Cam Schlittler went eight scoreless innings and struck out a career-high 12, allowing just five hits — and no walks — as the Yankees cruised to a 4-0 win over Boston to advance to the ALDS.

With four runs in the fourth inning on a combination of Yankees hits and sloppy Red Sox defense, the nearly unhittable Schlittler got all the run support he needed.

David Bednar closed the book with the scoreless ninth inning to punch the Yankees’ ticket for a date with the Blue Jays.
