RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was back in South Dakota Thursday, hosting a naturalization ceremony at Mount Rushmore.
There were 72 people from 34 countries taking the final step to become U.S. citizens; right underneath the Mount Rushmore memorial.
These people were greeted by U.S. Congressman Dusty Johnson, South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden and Noem.
“I think I put myself in their shoes. The taking the oath of a United States citizen for the first time and in front of such a crowd of witnesses like this ... pretty, pretty incredible,” Rhoden said.
