San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates on Friday afternoon. Let’s begin with the rookies.

Defensive tackle Alfred Collins has a knee sprain. The team will evaluate Collins in the coming days. Cornerback Upton Stout is day-to-day with an ankle injury. Stout avoided the dreaded high-ankle sprain, which is good news. Chase Lucas filled in on the final two drives in regulation and in overtime with Stout out.

The defensive line took another hit. We knew Kalia Davis needed surgery for a broken hand, but Yetur Gross-Matos will likely miss “a little time” with a hamstring injury. Gross-Matos only played 11 snaps against the Rams. He missed a significant amount of time last year due to an injury. The depth is all but depleted for the 49ers’ defensive line.
