The city of Springfield is hoping to have the final details of a new car port approved soon that would provide coverage to its four police cruisers, fire vehicles and other law enforcement vehicles.

The project cost estimated at $110,000 to $125,000, is expected to be funded in large part by a grant made available through the Michigan Legislature’s local development and safety initiative. The grant funding was announced by State Rep. Steve Frisbie (R–Pennfield Township) to cover the design and construction costs of the car port.
