GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Following two days of testimony, a judge sentenced former Texas City Commissioner Dee Ann Haney to 10 years in prison for a 2017 deadly crash that killed a father and son.

Judge Jeth Jones stated on Friday that Haney was previously granted a second chance when she was found guilty by a jury but jurors gave her 10 years probation instead of jail time.

"I'm not giving you a third," Jones said to Haney. "You don't seem to have ever taken this seriously."

In February 2024, Haney was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in connection with the 2017 deaths of Hong Phuc Le, 58, and his son Duoc Van Le, 33.

Seven months after her conviction, Haney was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Sept. 27, 2024.
