(KRON) -- Vallejo police are investigating the city's ninth traffic collision of the year after a woman died of injuries tied to trying to get into a moving vehicle.

Police said they were contacted by the Napa County Sheriff's Office on Oct.1 about a traffic collision that occurred Sept. 30 in the area of Broadway and Mahogany streets, which later ended in a fatality. Vallejo police soon took over the case since the incident happened within their city limits.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, a vehicle was traveling near Mahogany Street and Broadway Street when a female known to the driver attempted to enter the vehicle while it was in motion," said Vallejo police.
