DENVER — When Jonathan Sperlazza finished the 14ers this September, he had his best bud Jackson by his side.
Jackson, a golden retriever, has hiked 47 of Colorado's 14ers, just shy of Sperlazza's full 58. His path forward on the mountain has many in awe.
"His tail was always wagging," Sperlazza said. "He always wanted to lead the trail, and he really just loved just being out in the mountains with me."
When Sperlazza moved to Colorado, he knew he wanted to take his golden, Jackson, hiking. He wondered if they could put the state's highest spots in their sights. They started with a 13er.
