LAKE STATION — If you can name an action on a football field, East Chicago Central quarterback Derion Morris did it Friday.

It was the biggest game for Lake Station in 27 years.

The Fighting Eagles had a chance to clinch a winning record for the first time since 1998, but Derion Morris and EC Central had other plans.

Morris ran for 273 yards and five touchdowns, caught a pass for 50 yards, threw a touchdown pass and intercepted a pass in the Cardinals’ (2-5) 58-20 win over Lake Station (5-2, 2-0 Greater South Shore Conference - North).

“It feels really great knowing my team always has my back, no matter how many touchdowns or yards I get,” Morris said.
